Adam Dunn to stay in the starting lineup

Postby The Loveable Losers » Tue Jul 22, 2008 10:16 am

Seriously, I can't make this stuff up. There's an article on MLB.com where Dusty Baker was actually asked if he was considering benching Adam Dunn.

Griffey, Dunn get to keep their spots

Yeah...let's bench the guy with the 9th highest ops in the NL. I know Dusty Baker gets a bad rap but seriously - even I wouldn't expect him to bench Dunn. Maybe bat him 7th or something stupid like that but not bench him. Dunner's done caught Dusty 28 pheasants this year...that's a lot of poultry!

Yeah I saw the same article. Sure he's hitting only .230ish, but he's not in the lineup to hit for avg!! I can see the arguement to bench Griffey, but not Dunn.

yea that was a complete shock to read that, i mean .230 is bad but he has almost 30 homers. He's always been a low average guy but it's down from his .264 last year but he's on pace for over 40 bombs that would make it 5 years in a row with 40 plus.

I think it's just obvious that some people out there don't get it. At least Dusty Baker seems to get it a little bit - he even mentioned Dunn's obp which may be the biggest shock in the entire article. Maybe Dusty Baker's only half-clueless after all. :-b
