Damon fingers... Giambi?

Postby Transmogrifier » Wed Mar 03, 2004 1:08 pm

I know there's a lot of steroids talk here, but I found this quote (in today's Boston Globe) from Damon, the Sox's union rep, amazing:

Damon played with one of the players named (do your homework, people). Says Damon, "I know he's done stuff in the past. He's made a lot of money. Hopefully, he's aware, he'll stop, and he'll continue to play well."

Wow. It has to be Giambi. Velarde, the other A named, was not on the A's in 2001, when Damon was there. Velarde was in Oakland in 2000 and 2002. And Velarde certianly hasn't made a lot of money.

The developments of this are amazing...
I'm back. Sorta.

Do not boo Johnny.

im not very shocked at this. i think guys like damon who got to the bigs with hard work are pissed off about being overshaddowed and outearned by guys who juice.

even as a yankee fan, i accept the fact that giambi was almost certainly on steroids. the weight he has lost is alot more than 4 pounds, and i think we all know why. i think that baseball may need a guy like bonds or giambi to go down for using if the powers that be ever want to truly clean up the game.

I really cant see how bonds can look himself in the mirror when he wakes up in the morning. all he talks about is how he respects the game and its legends, yet he was very very willing to surpass his own godfather and Hank Aaron on the HR list by cheating. it just shows that he is the jerk that everyone says he is.

I know - its Rich (El Guapo) Garces.

I knew the Round Mound of Sit Down was juiced.

Garces wasn't on steroids, but he's just as guilty for the smuggling of them as anybody is of using them. Apparently he hid vast amounts of them in his chins, and various other rolls on his body that prevented border security from detecting them. And he wasn't under suspicion, since nobody would believe this guy was a pro athlete in anything but bowling (no offense Mad :-o ).

Good for "Hacksaw" Johnny Damon to rat out on an old cheatin' teammate. Too bad he didn't play with Bonds to let us know the truth about him too.

(That wrestling reference ought to neutralize the bowling comment :-D )

Doesn't overuse of steroids eventually lead to the breaking down of the body - like with Lyle Alzado? Maybe Giambi's knee issues are the effect of his previous use. I'm a yankee fan too, and I hope he can maintain his numbers dispite losing 4(0) pounds.

depeding on how long he has been using them but yeah, the body can break down. alzado's problem became cancer. Anyway, why doesn' t someone just ask their wives/girlfriends if their balls have shrunk since that is one of the first things to "break down" :-b

Garces couldn't handle the pro tour. :-D

As to Damon's comments, very interesting indeed. The reporters will figure it out and Giambi's reaction will probably make some headlines.
