Micah Owings came on in relief to pitch the eighth inning tonight. Has he lost his rotation spot? I don't think that the D-backs have a bunch of overworked relievers since mlb just came out of the all-star break. What's going on here?

I can't explain why but the announcers for the game were saying that Owings was DEFINITELY available out of the pen even though he was scheduled to start. I don't know if they viewed the game as a must-win, if someone is hurt, or what but I can say it didn't seem to be because of anything Owings had done wrong...they made it sound like the team needed Owings to close this thing down.
