Just another stud offensive talent in the Rangers deep minor league system. Taylor Teagarden is a top 3 minor league catcher (along with Weiters & Anderson) and is the future catcher for the Rangers. They are looking to trade both Max Ramirez and Gerald Laird. He's been dealing with some injuries this year but Teagarden has 30+ homerun power with a .300 avg, especially hitting in Texas. He might not be that useful in fantays leagues this year, but in keepers and dynasty he's gonna be tough to beat at catcher in the coming years. Think Jeff Clement with a better glove.

Taylor Teagarden hit his first career major league home run by taking Twins starter Scott Baker deep on Sunday.

is he even going to get much playing time with salty and ramirez already there not to mention laird on the DL? i don't really buy into catching prospects at all. jeff clement is supposed to be a stud but is pretty much garbage right now...j.r. towles was supposed to be a huge sleeper this year but hasn't proven worthy of being in the majors. when a catcher starts to hit consistently then i'll take him seriously.

Teagarden has a very bright future but he has nowhere near the power of Clement. Teagarden is more of a doubles hitter that should knock about 15-20ish homeruns out of Arlington. I believe he is their long term answer at catcher and has solid power at catcher but not in Clement class....at least in terms of power.

Well, you might not like him more if he can't stay behind the dish.

i don't think Teagarden will hit in the majors, he strikeouts too much .. his glove is his only asset, like a Brad Ausmus with slightly more offensive potential

Ramirez is easily the better hitter... but yea, might not stay behind the dish ... but Ramirez is hitting better then any of the texas 4 right now, including Salty .. theres no perfect answer. i also think they should trade 1 or 2
