Putz had a shaky appearance last night, blew the eight inning allowing a run on 3 hits... so this likely delays his becoming closer for awhile. Then again, there's talk Morrow might be sent to the minors to be stretched out... we'll see I guess...
For every Brett Myers there's a Nate McLouth...

with the rumors of Morrow being turned into a starter, it sounds like Putz has a clear path to the closer's role unless he gets hurt again. They've spent so much on him that they probably HAVE to play him to justify it.

I don't understand all the negativity towards Putz. Sure, he hasn't been that great this year, but he's been injured most of the time. After the numbers he's put up the last two years I'm surprised he doesn't get a little more slack around here.

I love the guy and kept him on my bench while he was injured... i'm mostly just wondering why the mariners haven't been more forthcoming with letting him get a shot at the role again... he's earned it and they've got nothing but pride to play for, Putz should be the closer and Morrow should begin the process of being a starter, or if not, let him be the 8th inning guy, he's gone on record saying he doesn't want to close in the future, so see if Putz can still be the elite guy he was for two years.
