Starting Wednesday at Atlanta
From Rotoworld:
Jul. 26 - 5:49 pm et
Manager Tony La Russa announced before Saturday's game that Chris Carpenter will start against the Braves on Wednesday.

It will be Carpenter's first start in almost 16 months. He has been out since Opening Day 2007 after experiencing elbow discomfort and eventually undergoing Tommy John surgery. Carp has made two solid rehab appearances, but if anything goes wrong, the Cardinals will easily be ridiculed for rushing him back. He will take Mitchell Boggs' spot in the starting rotation.

If they had any sense, they'd have Carp closing games for them the rest of this year - it'll build up his arm strength for next season, and would bolster a bullpen that has blown 22 games. It's not like Mozeliak made any moves before the season to improve the team, or will make any moves now. So why risk throwing Carp back into the rotation after only 2 starts?

Cardinals vs. Brewers this year: 4-9

6 of those losses came from the bullpen

I'm pretty sure I saw on rotoworld or ESPN that they plan on having wainwright take over the closer role.

The Cards are considering the move but nothing is in stone

So Chris Carpenter had his first start today. He threw 67 pitches in 4 innings. He allowed 1 Earned run along with 5 hits and 2 walks. I would have liked to see him go 5 innings so he could pick up the win, but baby steps. Hopefully next start he can go at least 5 innings. Not a bad first start though.
