Until last year, the guy had nothing but hit, year in, year out. Imo, he always has value while he qualifies at middle infield positions and is healthy enough to swing. But that value is reduced a lot by the fact that you can NOT drop your backup at that position. He's as fragile as fine china, so you basically have to use 2 spots to roster him. That's a big cost. That second spot could be used for spot starters, potential closers like Broxton, stashees like Liriano. Basically, I ONLY pick him up if he's healthy and I find myself with a player that is virtually worthless. And then only until a Broxton, Liriano, whatever, pops up.
