Cruz wild...
In his first start of the spring, right-hander Juan Cruz allowed four runs (three earned) on one hit, four walks and two hit batsmen in 1 1/3 innings as the Cubs lost a split-squad game to the Colorado Rockies, 7-1, at Hi Corbett Field on Monday.
Zambrano's start
Carlos Zambrano gave up two runs on five hits over three innings, striking out four in the longest outing by a Cubs pitcher this spring.
"He threw the ball exceptionally well," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said of Zambrano, projected as one of the five starters.
