Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Cincinnati Reds minority owner Marge Schott died Tuesday at the age of 75.
Schott had been in Christ Hospital in Cincinnati for several weeks due to breathing difficulties. She was a longtime smoker who was hospitalized twice in 2001 after suffering similar problems.
Still a limited share owner of the Reds, Schott sold a majority of her controlling shares in 1999. She was the team's owner when Cincinnati won the World Series in 1990.
The enigmatic owner was known as a frugal boss who was quite demanding of her players. Schott frequently paraded around the field and the locker room with her dogs, an act that irked many of the players.
