Manny hates to pinch-hit and he has been very upset with the front office recently so I it's not out of the realm of possiblity, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Manny's really the only person who truly knows either way. I rememeber watching the game thinking, 'Wow, how could he not atleast take the bat off his shoulder once' but I also remember thinking 'Manny really isn't use to the pinch-hit role and he usually likes to be well-prepared/warmed up which is why he has never enjoyed pinch hitting'.
According to industry sources, Ramirez, in addition to apologizing to McCormick, paid a fine of between $10,000 to $15,000, with the money going to an agreed-upon charity. The fine is at the lower end of that range. Reports that Ramirez had been assessed a six-figure fine are not true, and Red Sox officials have not raised the issue that Ramirez's strikeout against Mariano Rivera in a pinch-hit appearance July 6 was in any way related to the discipline administered.

I don't know how many of you saw the at bat. The first thing I said to my father was that Manny acted like he never intended to take the bat off his shoulder, and I asked if he was pissed off about something, cause it looked like he was trying to prove a point. At the time, I totally forgot about the pushing incident. I personally believe he did it on purpose as a protest. The balls he watched go by him were straight down the middle; not the type of pitches that Manny would ordinarily hold back on.

Edited the thread title with a "?". Just because Lobel says it doesn't mean it's true, unless he heard it directly from Manny, he's spouting off so he can get a job.
I don't think Manny would take 3 called strikes just to get the Sox to pick up a $20 million option, things don't quite work that way, though in Manny's world I'm not sure how they work...
Also edited the two grammar errors in the title. Purposely is not a proper noun, Yankees is.
