Have seen on two separate Oakland A's fan sites that the word in Oakland is that Gio Gonzalez HAS been called up to pitch against the Yankees. Any truth to this? Would love to see someone from the area provide a source.
Cheers.

Jul 17 Mychael Urban, of Athletics.MLB.com, reports the Oakland Athletics likely will recall SP Gio Gonzalez from Triple-A Sacramento.
There you go.
I already picked him up.

His minor league #'s aren't that great but if you look at it game by game it seems he blows up about every 4 or 5 starts and gives up 6 or 7 runs then he goes on another run of 4-5 straight lights out starts.

I just picked him up, hes been on my radar since the season started. Hopefully everything I read about him during spring training will be true.

I haven't followed this kid at all. Is this another one with the talents of Kershaw, but far too young to be pitching in the majors? A 117:53 k:bb ratio does not look good. His ERA could be upwards of 4.5-5.0 in the bigs, probably.

He's got a complete game 1 hitter with 13 k's and an 8 inning 1 hitter with 12 k's. I don't think talent is the issue.

If somehow Fuentes ends up not getting traded due to the Rockies astronomical asking price you'll most likely be kicking yourself. Unless the Rockies lower their demands I think there's a chance he doesn't get traded.

Dallas Braden is the projected starter for Tuesday vs. the Rays, but it still says Gio is likely to get the call.
