Depending on what they gave up ( ), I'd say Philly got a great starter. I think Blanton is pretty underrated, and they must have gotten him at a cheaper price than Burnett or Bedard would have cost.

Guess this shows how badly they wanted pitching, he isn't that good espcially away from the Coliseum. Since 2005 he has been horrible away and now he gets to pitch in that band box? Ick, he will give you innings but be terrible in the process.

I don't think that he is ready. He is still walking people at an alarming rate.

As for the trade, I will reserve judgement but Blanton is not that great.

I thought Burnett made sense for this team. I'm surprised they couldn't do better than this....

Crap, nevermind. I guess I didn't really look at his stats from last year. I remember last year really well, but maybe it was more of an aberration than anything else. I take it back it's the worst deal ever.

The deal can't be judged until I know what prospects are involved, but I'm going to guess that it's too much (based on Beane's history). On the plus he's a groundball pitcher in that bandbox...
