Wow, people are REALLY overrating a kid who has had 1 good season, if you call his 2002 season good. He had a decent year, while still struggling a bit with control, after YEARS of being killed from his control. Now ESPN.com has him mock drafted in the 7th round and said he could be picked in the 4th or 5th round. Are they crazy?
Clement is for real. In the minors he was compared to Kevin Brown, because of his sinking fastball, and was a top ranked sp prospect much the same as Peavy now. Matt is 28, and it simply took him a bit longer to mature. The best thing in his career was getting traded to Chicago, where they told him to throw his slider.

I hear you, but am blinded by stuff. I was big on him early in his career, and neglected to get him last year of course. This year, I think he will continue the roll. He could truly breakout this year, but I would guess he would improve and still have his poor games.
Brown was a good comparison. I looked up his stats early in his career. Not so good even when he won 20 from a pure fantasy perspective.
It is there.
You don't need a quadraphonic Blaupunkt, what you need is a curveball!....
Clement and Meadows were supposed to be the future of the Padres... Then Clement was supposed to be the future of the Marlins.. Now Clement is supposed to bust out with Cubs?? I'll pass thank you.

One more thing. He now has a Manager that knows how to get the best out of a pitcher. I imagine 'ol Dusty was Smiling pretty darn wide when he saw Wood, Prior, and Clement to go along with "Baby Bonds", sitting on his roster. Personally I think Prior is really something special. His friking K/9 has been the same at every level. Its almost stupid High. Maybe RJ high consistently. Clement will only grow along with two of the best K artist in the game. And as comparing him to Brown. Hitters used to say that Kevin was the hardest to hit of the Big Three (RJ/CURT/BROWN).
