Was I the only one turned off by Willie May's behavior at the all-star game? He doesn't acknowledge the crowd's ovation and stands there with a pissed off scrowl looking at the camera. Then he completely ignores Josh Hamilton and I heard that he did the same to Fukodome. C'mon if you're so mad at baseball and its fans, stay home!

Maybe I missed something. Did he make some sort of statement about being upset with baseball or the fans? I'm more than willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He is almost 80 years old, he very well could have just been confused with what has been going on.

If the former greats don't show up, they get knocked for not taking part and not respecting the game and fans. If they do show up, they get knocked for apparently having a scowl and not acting the way that fans and media think they should or expect them to. He's Willie Mays. He could have flipped off the camera and mooned the crowd and I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I think you need to cut him some slack. We haven't the slightest idea why he had that expression and what it really meant. You are putting your own interpretation on it. Someboday/Something might have upset him at that moment; he might have been in pain; maybe he was hiding confusion; maybe he suddently had to use the bathroom; etc. Who knows?! We can guess all day. The fact that he bothered to come was the most important thing.
