What are your thoughts on this kid? He is a 22 year old 6'2" lefty who throws a low 90s fastball with a little downward action, but his best pitch is his plus plus curve. I believe he was also developing a change. His numbers in AAA haven't been all that impressive.
ERA 4.59 WHIP 1.41 K/BB 57/25 IP 68.2
But in AA he put up good numbers to the tune of
ERA 2.06 WHIP 1.20 K/BB 41/16 IP 35
I believe that he was considered a top prospect in the Cards organization, so what are your thoughts on him in 2008 and beyond?

Jaime Garcia will make his first major league start next Sunday against the Padres. "Garcia is here, so we should see what he can do," said pitching coach Dave Duncan. "It's a good spot to see how he handles himself." He tossed two scoreless innings in relief on Friday night, but his fastball topped out at 90 mph and he couldn't seem to locate his curveball. The 22-year-old was 7-6 with a 3.73 ERA between Double-A and Triple-A this season, while fanning 98 batters in 103 2/3 innings. He projects as a solid third starter, but it'd be ill-advised to expect big things this season.
He strikes me as someone that has the talent to catch fire and be a useful (not great) pitcher down the stretch in fantasy. Or he could struggle and have a 4.50-5.50 ERA and get sent down at some point. I can't see him being useful in a 12 team league until he has a couple of good starts. But I would pick him up in my 20 team league in the hope that he's a useful player, but he was grabbed Monday night.
It's not surprising. But still surprising at the same time that Anthony Reyes keeps putting up great numbers in AAA and he gets no shot. Instead, Garcia comes up. I have no problem with Garcia coming up. But Reyes is majorly in the doghouse. They need to trade Reyes and quit wasting his career.
