NEW YORK — San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum, the former University of Washington ace participating in his first All-Star Game, wound up at a New York hospital this afternoon.
Lincecum was experiencing dehydration and flu-like symptoms, according to a Giants spokesman.
Lincecum was released from the hospital tonight and is resting comfortably, but is not expected to be at Yankee Stadium for the game.
Feeney, a senior vice president of scheduling and club relations, told reporters, "I don't think it was anything major."
Hangovers tend not to be too "major."
Lincecum, who pitched eight innings Sunday against the Cubs, wasn't scheduled to pitch tonight anyway, according to [Bud] Black.
Let's see...first AS Game...all the guys are there...in New York...not gonna pitch...sounds like a good night to get drunk? Just weak that he has to go the hospital afterwards. Goldenchild has lost some of my respect.

a couple of nights of partying because "he was never going to play" in all liklyhood was my thought.
I played a wedding this month where they happened to the groom, but he was hyperglycemic hypo?

I'm going to reserve judgement until I know how much alcohol it took to get him that drunk. If say he downed a 24 and then started hitting the tequila then he should get points for being hardcore before he goes the hospital. But if he only had a couple drinks then needed someone to babysit then yeah that's pretty weak. At least we can assume he won't become the Josh Hamilton of pitching if he has a low tolerance for substances. Although that would be a great story.
