Apparently Ichiro gives a speech every year before the All - Star game loaded with profanity. Apparently this is now considered good luck and pumps everyone up.
Per Ichiro:
“I know how important it is to the game,” Ichiro said. “I’m more concentrated at that moment than I am in the game.”

It's the last All-Star Game in Yankee Stadium, so I doubt somebody from outside The Big Apple, let alone The Big Continent could possibly understand the implications that come into play here. Derek Jeter is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, and Ichiro is a classless, arrogant punk if he thinks that it is his speeches that propel the AL to victory and not The Captain's will, determination, and pumping of the fist. I've lost all respect for Ichiro.

Ortiz thinks Ichiro does it too but of course he is a Red Sox. You are just angry because the Mets don't have anyone on the AL All star team
The Fist pump is extremely powerful just ask Tiger
