2nd Half Stars - By Position?

Postby DudeLaw » Tue Jul 15, 2008 1:41 am

Just curious if you had to put money on which players at every position would have the best 2nd halves. Giving account to, but no weight to what they did in the 1st half. Clean slates from this point on...Who ya got?

And just for fun...do another for for possible sleepers...

2nd Half Studs:

C - Joe Mauer
1B - David Ortiz (only cause I traded him for Beltran) :-o
2B - Chase Utley
3B - pAy-Rod
SS - Hanley (Who else?) Ramirez
OF - Matt Holliday
OF - Vlad Guerrero
OF - Ryan Braun

SP - Johan (2nd Half) Santana
RP - K-Rod

2nd Half Sleepers: (or Buy-low candidates)

C - Benji Molina
1B - Carlos Pena
2B - Robinson Cano
3B - Chase Headley
SS - Jimmy Rollins
OF - Alex Rios
OF - Cody Ross
OF - Manny Ramirez (with Ortiz back)

SP - Chris Young
RP - JJ Putz

the name that jumps out to me has already been mentioned, and thats Adam LaRoche. if you can trade for this guy, do it! his career 2nd half numbers are crazy.
another name that people probually would not think of is 2B Mark Ellis. his numbers are not that good right now, and his home/away splits are bad..
home- .181/.292/.293/.585/
away- .314/.386/.507/.893/
but over his career he hits better in the 2nd half..
career 1st- .251/.324/.372/.697/
career 2nd- .285/.355/.454/.809/
it would be nice if he could get traded out of Oakland because of his home/away splits, but hes someone to keep an eye on for the 2nd half.

Good ones.
I've got Gonzo in all my leagues, hoping the Braves start winning some games.
