Why are some players recommeded for AL Only Leagues?
I've seen it for batters and pitchers.

Bwanna's got it exactly right. I'll also add that this can change whether or a player should be sold high, or bought low....

If you're reading this in fantasy articles, the players they are talking about are lower quality guys. They are valuable in an AL-only league, because a much higher percentage of players are worth being on a team. These same players are generally not good enough to be worth owning in a regular mixed league.

Oh, OK. I thought maybe it had something to do with the DH or lack of DH. I've seen it on ESPN's Fantasy report, usually the initial blurb that was printed about them at the beginning of the season. Some of these players are doing well, so maybe those initial assessments can be discounted now, I suppose.
It had me a little worried, like the tags on pillows that say "Don't remove under penalty of law." I was wondering if I'd be making some kind of big mistake if I picked them up off the wire in my mixed league.

Think about a guy like Aybar or Ianetta. Neither are really worth owning in a mixed league (12-14) since they arent full time starters (at this time) but since both play more often then not they are worth owning in an AL/NL only league. A 12 team AL only league would require most teams to roster backup position players at a number of spots, plus some 4/5 starters who wouldnt be worth a look in a mixed league (like Liz )
