Just got into this game. It's a lot of fun. I found myself rooting for Jhonny Peralta last night (of all people)...I have Abreu going tonight. Batting 538 off Garland and 524 for the week. It's a lock, right? ;-)

I made it to 24 games earlier this year before Brad Hawpe killed me. I'd normally have never picked Hawpe, but he had like a .590 avg against the pitcher over a significant numbers of AB.

My basic strategy is to take a group of the 200 hit type guys and guys who can bunt for hits or leg out IF hits and rotate them according to matchup. I use guys like Ichiro, Utley, Reyes, Crawford, Sizemore, Pujols, etc.

Course, if I'd remember to log in once in awhile, that might help...... :-B

I crunched the numbers a few days back. Even if you can pick a 500 batter every day of the streak, there's still less than a 3% chance of getting to 57. If you go 300, it drops to way less than 1%. The game is way tougher than it initially seems...which would obviously explain why no one has gotten to 50, I guess.
