We have an owner that has expressed that he may hang it up after the season and is now trying to make a trade with a team making a push for the playoffs. I have never vetoed a trade, but do I need to step in here or should I let it go?
Team pushing for the playoffs gets: Ryan Howard Pat Burrell Russell Martin
Team we are worried about gets: Prince Fielder David Murphy Vicente Padilla
I forgot, the team giving up Fielder, Murphy and Padilla is also giving up an 8th round draft pick (which equals out to a 16th rounder with our keeper league). That doesn't make it any better, does it?
It makes it better; I don't know if it makes it whole. A 16th-rounder is pretty much a shot-in-the-dark but at least it shows that he's thinking kind of next year.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.
I really don't see this trade as being a really lopsided trade, since I think Fielder is worth Howard and Martin by himself, but that is just me. I think Howard is an absolute waste.
However, why would anyone EVER trade for Padilla? I just went to my most competitive league with the deepest rosters (28 spots). 1st and 5th place are only separated by 3 games and Padilla is a free agent.
The team that is basically giving up is trying to accumulate Brewers. He has Kendall, Branyan, Cameron, Sheets, Para, Bush, Gagne and is trying to now land Fielder and Hardy through trades.
Can I let this trade happen? Howard, Martin and Burrell for Fielder, Padilla, D. Murphy and a 16th round pick
This is a keeper league (3 players) Team getting Fielder will now have keepers of Fielder, Phillips and Sheets compared to Howard, Martin and Phillips (keepers from last year)
I hate vetoing, but if the guy has indicated he may not play next year, any moves he makes should be looked upon skeptically. If he's packing it in after the season, why is he trading in the first place?

Save him the trouble of quitting and kick him out.

Second. That's ridiculous. But before you kick him out....pick up Mota and see what he will give you
