Cubs Interested in Rich Harden?

Postby sox 06 » Tue Jul 08, 2008 2:32 pm

Jul 8 The Cubs are interested in Harden, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Recommendation: With the Brewers acquiring C.C. Sabathia and Rich Hill a long way from rejoining the rotation, it's possible the Cubs will pony up for another ace atop their rotation.

Makes sense ... the Cubs are looking for someone to replace Prior on the DL. :-b

Seriously, Harden has been terrific this year. But how long does it last? For all the bad luck the Cubs have had with top pitching talent, it's a peculiar idea to say the least ... if not a train wreck waiting to happen.

Agreed. Between the Cubs luck with pitchers and injuries and Harden's luck with injuries, nothing good can come of this.

It appears to be an all or nothing deal. As a Cub fan, I am skeptical. I understand the need, and the kid has been lights out when healthy. I hope we make A move. If we stand put, I will be somewhat upset, but honestly, the Harden deal scares the heck outta me.

The Cubs have nothing to offer. Sorry but nobody wants Cubs leftovers in Pie and Murton and Hill when you're looking at 2 picks for letting a rental walk.

It is a done deal, and the Cub's really didn't give up a ton. At least, no one who had a chance to crack the line-up for several years. Gallagher is a tough pitcher, but the possibility of a healthy Harden from here on out is real nice. ;-D
*Insert Harden's Health Joke Here*
I have even made jest of his durability on here many of times. Now, of course, the tables have turned. If healthy, a rotation of Zambrano, Harden, Lilly, Dempster is pretty nice. Soriano coming back only makes things look that much nicer, with Derosa being moved back to 2B.
