Teixeira trade

Postby yassassin » Mon Jul 07, 2008 10:05 pm

Any word on Teix getting traded? I just heard the Red Sox are looking at him; I can't imagine what they'd do with him, with Youk at 1B and Papi back soon. I'm in an NL-only league looking to trade for him, but I wanna hold off if the rumors get too heavy - especially with C.C. taking the plunge across leagues.

Where did you hear that?

Not doubting you, just wondering.

its been generally "around" that the braves will trade him if they dont feel they are in it since the offseason

Angels, Sox, Yankess..insert big team/contending team name here

That would certainly make sense for the Braves if they decide they're out of the race this season, but I'd be surprised if they'd make that decision until very close to the deadline or they go on a horrific loosing streak.

Does anyone know if Tex can play the outfield? I could see the Rays parting with a pitcher to get Tex. The Braves are horrible and need a starting pitcher in the worst way.

Have you seen Tex? I really doubt he'd play the OF.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

He played right field on several occasions when he was a Ranger - he did just fine.

The only AL team I can see him go to would be the Angels. Torii Hunter is not really protecting Vlad as many people forecast earlier.

Yahoo has had a few words about a potential trade; no other sources have spoken up, other than an occasional Ken Rosenthal "musing" on the subject.
I can't see the Angels pushing for Teix while they've got Kotchman, but I don't know. I honestly can't see him going to any of the big name AL teams as DH/1B.

Kotchman? He is no way close to Teixiera's level, and is average at best. Plus, didn't the Angels offer Konerko that big contract like a couple of years ago, but he decided to stay with the Sox. So, the possibility of Teix heading to LA is not out of the question.

Btw, putting a gold glove 1st baseman as DH would be a huge mistake.
