Brewers, Indians agree on Sabathia

I just was told by a reliable club source that the Brewers have a deal in place with Cleveland for left-hander C.C. Sabathia, contingent on the paperwork being done and medical records exchanged.

But believe me, folks, that's a deal. All that other stuff is formality.

All I know so far is that top prospect Matt LaPorta is in the deal. I was told two lower-level minor leaguers also are included. The Brewers refused to include another top prospect such as Alcides Escobar or Mat Gamel.

Look for Sabathia to make his debut for the Brewers Tuesday night at Miller Park against Colorado.

I'll post more details as I get them.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting that the Indians have acquired C.C. Sabathia from the Indians.

guess they guy was trying to get the news out fast he put in Indians instead of Brewers.

what i want to know is how this effects Sabathia's value. should he be even better in the 2nd half pitching games in the NL?

Yeah, like J.P. could pull something like that off.

yeah yeah yeah, Sabathia Sabathia Sabathia, but has anyone heard anything yet on what the Indians plan on doing with LaPorta?

Staying in the OF? Moving to 1st or DH (Hafner's health precipitating a trade/cutting bait)? Come up this year or has that chance now passed with them out of the race and really not needing him at the major league level?

Well he almost pulled off Rios for Lincecum. Sabean got cold feet at the last second.

All it takes is one party to get too desperate, it doesn't take much effort.

I really hope the Indians don't rush LaPorta up. He should finish the year in the minors at least. For personal reasons also I need LaPorta to remain under 130 ab's for the year, so hopefully they don't rush him. :-] :-b

All the reports we in Milwaukee heard all season was that he had become a passable corner OF. I think everyone here knew that an OF in 2009 of LaPorta, Braun and Hart wasn't going to cut it defensively.
