Tulo goes to the DL

Postby Justblaze » Sat Jul 05, 2008 1:36 pm

The Rockies have placed Troy Tulowitzki on the disabled list due to an injured thumb. He needed surgery after he smashed a bat and it splintered into his thumb, the Rocky Mountain News reports. The team has not stated a timetable for his return.

Our View
Fantasy owners have already been mad at Tulo, and now he adds this injury to a disappointing year. Clint Barmes will slide back to shortstop, and the tandem of Jeff Baker and Omar Quintanilla will handle second base duties.

I'm going to stop playing musical chairs with you my friend.

wooooow...i just traded for tulo and kershaw in a dynasty league, thought i was buying low...guess not. this couldn't have worked out any worse. at least i have an okay backup in stephen drew although it's going to hurt to see his inconsistency in my starting lineup %-6 .

ughhh tulo is killing my team. Any1 think this is serious or just minor? Sounds like he just needed surgry to remove the splinters whioch shouldnt be a big deal but if its something else then thats gonna be a problem. Hopfully it just to remove splinters and not broken or anything liek that.

As opposed to Tulowitzki's rock solid reliability? It's not like he was tearing it up since his return. I just wish I had a better backup than Renteria, who's also been struggling like crazy for a looooong stretch now.

good point sandman. hopefully the surgery was just to remove the splinters...in that case he could be back soon after the all-star break which would be best case senario. hopefully we can find out more details soon...

freaking Tulo... I don't have room for him on my DL anymore... time to go back into the weekly ss rotation... Keppinger... Barmes...
For every Brett Myers there's a Nate McLouth...

it's on the rockie's official site... Tulo's going to address the press before today's game, so we'll likely know how serious it is by then... the wound is on his palm, not thumb... that being said I have no idea how long he'll be out... so dissapointed, I lost Furcal, then I was fortunate to pick Tulo off the FA list.. he starts to come back to life... then this... a stupid stupid decision, I hope he's still on the FA wire before he comes back, I'm not giving up on him, I just don't have room for him with Ortiz, Waino, Putz, and Pierre on the DL... with only 2 DL spots to begin with... it's just not worth carrying Tulo right now...

haha you got me on that one.

as far as the sources go...theres a couple, the most recent is by the denver post...the first one that reported it (as far as i know of) was by rocky mountain news. the local news stations are usually the first to break the news. national sportscasts such as espn and cbs are always the last to report it because they like to wait until it is 100% confirmed so that their reputation doesn't take a hit if they mess up.
