The "I wish I hadn't dropped..." Thread

Postby byfrcp » Thu Jul 03, 2008 8:05 am

I was just thinking about a few of my moves this year that I wish I could take back, thought maybe others could post theirs as well. Make sure to include who you dropped the player for, especially if it makes you feel worse :-b

I wish I hadn't dropped Justin Duchsherer for Oliver Perez. (Ughhh this makes me sick to my stomache :-P)

I wish I hadn't dropped Placido Planco for Ben Francisco (I have Utley and Polanco was struggling at the time in my Util spot)

Have at it!

Well, before the season Edinson Volquez and Nate McLouth were both FAs. I picked McLouth up, then dropped him for Volquez, then thought about it a little...and dropped Volquez for McLouth. I can't say that in and of itself looks terrible, but the problem was that there were guys on my roster like Frank Thomas who I decided were too valuable to drop after drafting them in like Rd 24.

Needless to say, VERY bad decision, since I had a really good feeling about Volquez and just didn't have the cajones to back it up.

I play in a weekly transaction league and early in the season Milton Bradley missed a game or two with "knee soreness" or something. I've got a solid team and being a weekly league I figured Bradley would be too much of a headache with all his missed games. He's missed a handful recently, but I still wish I hadn't dropped him.

Mike Gonzo for Wheeler when Percy went on the DL the first time. In hind sight I wish I'd dropped Brett Myers.

No one. I rarely end up dropping players and regret afterwards. I'm stubborn.

I'm actually the same.....I can go a whole season with 20 moves in a year no problem. I think the worst i've done was dropping Jose Guillen(start 5OFers) a couple weeks before he went on his hot streak but thats about it.

Buchholz or Jair. I was almost forced to drop them though due to injuries to Pujols, Ortiz, Weeks, Chipper, etc.
