Read any good books?

Postby haymarket » Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:39 pm

So I'm getting ready to spend about 20 hours in a car going to a family reunion and I need a good book to read. I'm especially interested in biographies of older baseball players. I've read books on DiMaggio, Cobb, Ruth, and Buck O'Neil and enjoyed each of them. Can anyone give me any recommedations of any books they have read? Maybe something about Mantle, Gehrig, or Shoeless Joe (or anyone else). Thanks.

Ever read The Catcher Was a Spy, about Moe Berg the catcher turned intelligence agent? It is a fantastic read if you are into WW2 and baseball ;-D

Obviously, your vacation is long over but anyone who likes to read about older players would probably enjoy Eight Men Out by Eliot Asinot. I didn't think much of the movie but the book is very good.
