Also, I second people's ideas for lists. Since the middle of May I have made lists about:
-favorite movies -favorite books -favorite albums -favorite beers -favorite drinking games -places to visit before I die -ideal jobs -ideal life situation 10 years from now -reasons why I hate my job -what I am going to do this weekend
There are a few more. But ya, I really don't do a whole lot at work. Then again, I am an intern, and I redefine the definition of office slave.
I probably won't help at all, mostly because I've never worked at a desk before, but for me just doing actual work makes the time go by much faster than trying to bs my way through the day. When it gets hot I take frequent breaks, but still just keep myself busy.

I'm the same way. I had a couple maintenance jobs for a couple summers, and there was plenty of down time. By about 11-12 o'clock, I'd run out of things to do and just walk around the plant and find small, time consuming things to keep me occupied until the end of the work day. I guess it's pretty hard to do something like that, working at a desk all day though.
I'm a big fan of the list idea as well. Ever since watching High Fidelity, I've had a weird obsession with lists. How about coming up with 2009 fantasy baseball rankings?
I like to make football playbooks. I'll draw out tons of formations with many plays for each, both for offense and defense. I have filled several huge notebooks.

I've done that before, I've also tried to design golf courses...
