Im in a 12 person yahoo money league with a bunch of friends from school, the positions are... the usual (C,1B,2B,3B,SS,OF,OF,OF,Util) for offence and (SP,SP,P,P,P,RP,RP)
The limit for batters is 180 games and 1700 innings for pitchers, but I think a limit will be set on closers....
here are how the points breakdown, can anyone think of some players who gain value with this point systems?
How about guys who lose value?
and input your scoring system and get a pretty good idea of what players will be worth. Power hitters, elite pitchers and stud closers will be your best bet. Let someone else have the speedy guys, you take as many Thomes, Thomas's, Rolens, and Sheffields as you can get. Pitchers will outscore hitters so they'll likely go earlier than you'd expect.
Thanks for the projection site.... It seems like gagne is the best guy... followed by schilling,prior... then some of the top hitters... pitchers seem to somewhat own this league.
Also, make sure to have lots of arms on your bench. With seven pitching slots, 1700 is a pretty high limit, and you want to use as much of it as you can.
Who would you guys suggest getting 1st round? I mean, if I can get a-rod or puljos, should I jump on them or grab gagne (seems like a lock for most points), prior, schilling?
Thats actually the old Sandbox FP scoring system. I played there for a few years so I'm quite familiar with it.
Starting pitching was the key in that game, although your league will be different because it limits innings rather than games. I would focus on guys with good K rates.
As far as hitters go, the +1 for BB and -1 for K makes a HUGE difference. Knock big K guys like Soriano and Sosa down a notch. Bonds, assuming he maintains his recent performance levels, will be the best hitter by far due to the walks. Helton will also be a monster. Also, steals can boost a guy a bit but they aren't nearly as important as in roto. Avoid guys like Alex Sanchez and Carl Crawford.
