So what are the chances that this guy comes back and takes over as closer within the next few weeks?

it would have to be a convergence of two things:
1) Torres would have to really lose the gig
2) Gagne would have to out perform Torres

as to #1, Torres will likely come down to earth, but I think he'll hold it together well enough not to open up the door to Gagne, irrespective of the 10 million the brewers paid him...

leading me to #2... I think Gagne is NOT going to out perform Torres, let alone anyone else in the bullpen... I just don't think he has it this year, or perhaps at all for that matter... amazing considering the first half he had last year...

Optimistically I stashed Gagne on my DL. I am subscribing to the Barry Zito/Andruw Jones theory, they paid him too much to let him take up the 7th inning.
