Greatest Rap group of all time?

Id say Wu-Tang is prob. the best of all time, but i really like The Roots a lot. Blackstar has some great songs but cant be considered one of the best ever. A Tribe called Quest has some really good songs but isnt in the top 3 for me.

A lot of good mentions. I don't listen to much hip-hop any more, but used to listen to a lot of Beastie Boys and Arrested Development. Great mentions, of course, with Tribe Called Quest and Run DMC.

On this topic, does it seem like the "rap group" has gone the way of the dinosaur. 15 years ago, they were everywhere. Now it seems like the solo rap artist is pretty much all you see.

Of course you can't see an artist's name without seeing, "featuring ....".

i would think too much selfishness. no need to share the money 10 different ways.


lupe, kanye, and pharell spoke about creating a super group of sorts, which would be one of the only in today's world.

i never into many of the old school groups like de la soul, a tribe called quest, public enemy, or run dmc. i have listened to the roots and enjoy some of their stuff, and i like both mos def and talib kweli.

Extremely tough call to make, but I'm going with Public Enemy here. Their lyrics have to be some of the most thought-prokoving words ever spoken on wax. Their style was also quite groundbreaking. "It Takes a Nation..." is still the most played rap record in my library and it's 20 years old. It was relevant then and it's still relevant today.
