What kind fo value do you see him having this season? Will he be starting for KC, will he get plenty of at bats? I'm in a very deep league with 12 active bats and 8 active pitchers per day. That being said, I probably need at least a bat or two more to fill up my lineup card closer to capacity more frequently. Stairs tore it up in part time duty last year.
Would Matt Stairs be more valuable to me than Carl Pavano with this roster?
SP: Oswalt, Mulder, Wolf, Sabathia, B. Lawrence, W. Alvarez, C, Pavano, E. Jackson
RP: Looper, Mantei, Quantrill, Valverde
Note: it's a 6x6 and counts all standard categories plus holds and OPS (another reason to pick up Stairs .950) so I can't drop Quantrill and Valverde. There is also no Innings Limit. In any case, with only one bench hitter, even though I'd say my hitters are quite strong (I took Helton, Ramirez, Renteria, Ordonez with my picks 1-4), I think I probably need more reserves since most managers will be consistently using at least 14 or 15 hitters with no games limit. It's all about balance, so what do you think? Pavano or Stairs?
Pavano I would keep, if you want to drop a pitcher I would drop Wilson Alvarez but if I were you I would drop Brian Jordan for Matt Stairs. From what I understand he'll be the DH for the Royals with time spent in the OF. Should get around 400 abs.
They like Harvey and Stairs D @ 1B and they will have to make Sweeney prove he can stay healthy before playing him @ 1B.
Basically its a rotation between Juan Gone, Sweeney, Stairs and Harvey. Gonzo and Sweeney will play everyday, either their usual spots or DH, and then whichever spot is left, RF or 1B, will determine if Stairs of Harvey plays.
Thats why Stairs and Harvey will only see 350-400 ABs apiece.
As of now Alverez is not in the rotation, if he does get in the rotation he could be good. But if I were you I would drop over the others if you want to take a chance on Stairs.
