Keeper leagues - Catchers

I kept Mauer in my keeper and he's paying dividends (I own CBY but am in the top 3 for batting average) but he's definitely a goner after this season because I have Wieters in my system. I'm definitely pumped to see what he can do.

I have Doumit and Mauer in a first year keeper league that plays 2 catchers and am possibly going to keep them both. I have a lot of possible keepers in my lineup and can only keep 8 players that were either drafted in the 7+ rounds and any non drafted player is keeper eligible.

So right now I have to decide on 8 at the end of the year from:
Doumit
Mauer
Votto
Michael Young
Chris Davis
Headley
Mclouth
Matt Kemp
Delmon Young

Cueto
J O Sanchez
Wainright
Wandy Rodriguez
Matt Garza

I would have a hard time keeping a catcher unless it was a league with 10+ keepers. McCann and Vmart (provided his health report comes back positive) are the only two I would consider keeping.

Mauer, Martin and Soto just don't quite have enough right now.

FYI, Russell Martin is now eligible at 3B as well as catcher now!

At this point I'll probably keep Soto but that's only because he'll only cost me $3.

Yeah but Martin will be used by fantasy owners at 3B about as much as they use Carlos Guillen at 1B.

i think you just showed that the values of catchers varies wildly. mccann and soto will likely be drafted before round 6 next year, while martin and vmart will fall to around 9 or 10 (posada territory). this of course will vary wildly depending on the league.

what can be learned here is not taking a catcher early. a lot of managers would be better off had they taken molina or navarro late in the draft.

BTW, in a keeper, Soto has to be almost a no doubter! Homerism or not, this kid can flat out rake. He has monster power and seems to be able to hit the ball up the middle extremely well.
