I googled him. Texas Rangers 3B. Player of the year last season.

Lone Star Dugout names 21-year-old third baseman Chris Davis as the minor league player of the year in the Rangers organization for 2007. Davis batted .297 with 36 home runs and 118 runs batted in between High-A Bakersfield and Double-A Frisco this season.

Is Davis worth top waiver in a deep 14 teamer? I'm out of it this year and trying to rebuild, 5 keeper out of 25 man roster.

This guy is a beast and is going to put up Ryan Howardesque numbers in his prime. For this year I could see him as a Longoria type with a better average because of his lineup and the ballpark that he plays in. The K's and lack of walks are a concern but then again guys like Ryan Braun and Matt Kemp have shown that it doesn't really hinder their overall offensive production.

i was just about to make the comparison to ryan braun as stated above. davis has a dangerously low walk rate, and k's a lot. which are exactly ryan braun's flaws. both have potential to hit 40 homers per year, and both are surprisely quick. davis has 7 SB on the year and braun has 8. that puts them on track for about 15-20 on SB per year. i really like davis' upside i just hope he gets the chance to start with max ramirez, salty, and catalonnoto that can all play 1B.

i'm surprised you guys have never heard of him. he has absolutley destroyed the minors this year hitting 23 homers and struting a .333 avg this year.

If you've been saving your waiver priority for something good, this might be one of your better options...
