Aaron Harang can he turn it around?

Postby Slump Busters » Thu Jun 26, 2008 8:58 am

I am curious from those who may be watching Cinci games or have some insight on Harang's trouble this season?? The guy in his last 5 starts is 1-4 has given up 7 HR and posted a 7.36 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP. Thats FIVE starts, not one or two bad outings. Anyone have any suggestions as to why he is getting lit up like a Christmas tree? His K totals per IP are also down during this period. Is he having velocity issues or perhaps his pitchs are not moving as well???

He has been riding my bench but I am hoping to see him turn the corner soon, because continued numbers like that will ultimately mean a trip to the Waiver wire in my 12 team H2H league.

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure of the answer, but I hope you get some good news. I was ready to see the comeback these next couple starts with the Bluejays and I think the Nats and Pirates, and had Haren on the trading block. But now he doesn't move off my bench and I'm afraid to trade any of my decent pitchers.

Last week I traded Harang and Jose Valverde for Tim Lincecum and Guillermo Mota (just a throw in). I couldn't take watching Harang get tagged anymore. He actually got some run support last night vs. the Jays but he wasted it.

I thought it was safe to start him against the BLUE JAYS, and he still managed to get lit up. :-C

He got dropped in my league after his latest disaster. 8-o He just hasn't been the same since that 4 inning relief appearance. Dusty working his pitching magic again.

Two starts this upcoming week vs lowly Pirates and Nationals. If he does not win at least one of those games and recordat least 10+ Ks total he is going to the wire for someone who is actually performing. :-t

Not only that but the Reds actually put a 5 spot on Halladay so one would think 5 runs to work with against the Jays would be a running start for a "W" but we know what happened.I really thought he'd clean up starting with this start in Toronto and his upcoming schedule. Not sure what to do at this point 'cause his value is dropping(if he still has any) by the start and I personally can't bring myself to drop him.

Unfortunately the Pirates aren't so lowly anymore- 6th in MLB in runs scored. The start against the Nats should be OK, but the Pirates start kinda scares me.
