HOUSTON (AP)—Astros pitcher Shawn Chacon was suspended indefinitely by the team Wednesday for insubordination after reportedly grabbing general manager Ed Wade by the neck and throwing him to the ground.
“He started yelling and cussing,” Chacon said of Wade, according to a story on the Chronicle’s Web site. “I’m sitting there and I said to him very calmly, ‘Ed, you need to stop yelling at me. Then I stood up and said, ‘You better stop yelling at me.’ I stood up. He continued and was basically yelling.”
Chacon said that after Wade told him he needed to “look in the mirror,” it got worse.
“So at that point I lost my cool and I grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground. I jumped on top of him,” he said. “Words were exchanged.”
Looks like Ed Wade did a good job of selling as well, he could have some potential.

swearing or not, a) words can never hurt you b) its the boss. The other thing is people LOVE to forget relevant behavior and timelines. This is just conjecture, so we don't know for sure. But I can't stand it when the same people ignore the same thing or do the same thing several times, and were told calmly not to, or were repremanded calmly. When someone finally snaps, you lose some of your right to be like "well you lost your cool." Someone who resorts to violence like that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in me to respond to something negative professionally.
Chacon blew his cool for sure, but the GM had no place confronting a player. GM yells at manager, manager yells at player. They should both be fined and suspended for their childish and unprofessional behavior.
Now, Chacon is obviously an idiot, but I really have to question Wade's sanity. One of the things my dad taught me a long time ago is to never push someone who can knock you out. Ed Wade has to be what, around 50? Yelling at someone and belittling them in front of other people has at least a 50/50 chance of pushing them too far. Not smart on Wade's part and even dumber on Chacon's . But its a lesson.
Don't be a raging douchebag to someone who can actually hurt you.
