So our friends and my wife were discussing the Mayan calender and the significance of year 2012. I found a bunch of apocalyptic propagandas on the interweb which for the most part (to me at least anyway) seems very silly. Has anyone done any research on this subject and/or where I should look for better info?

Pretty much, the Mayan's had to stop at some point, and the year 2012 was just a random stop point. If we made a calender nowadays that days until the year 5000, you'd think it wass more than enough, wouldn't you? Well, back then 2012 was 3 thousand years away, at least, so it seemed to be far enough into the future that there was no dire need for more years to be recorded, asnd who knows what was happening to the Mayan people at the time that caused them to stop recording. People like a conspiracy so they think there was na genda to the reason the record of time was stopped then, buut really, it had to stop at some year.

I've watched a few things on the History channel about the Mayans and their predictions. Pretty interesting stuff. About 2012, I've thought about it a few times but in the end it doesn't really matter. If the world ends, I won't be around to care one way or the other.

I'm pretty much 100% sure the world will end then. I've been making a list of all the crap I need to do in the next 3 1/2 years.

There's nothing to the 2012 "theory" or whatever you want to call it. It's like turning the page on a calendar. Yanks_Baby said it best when he said they had to stop at some point.

Yes, I've done some research, but going straight to the source is always the way to go. If you contact the Mayans, they should be able to clear up any questions you may have.
