Johnny Damon

From NY Daily News:
Johnny Damon was battling so much pain in the arch of his left foot on Sunday, he said he "just couldn't move," giving him "no chance" at the plate or at running down balls in the outfield.

Damon was out of the lineup Tuesday night with the same problem, the fourth game he has missed this season. He hopes to return today or tomorrow, although he wouldn't rule out the possibility of a trip to the disabled list.

"Hopefully I can go (tonight), but I can't promise anything right now," Damon said. "I definitely need my legs to help this team."

Damon hasn't had any tests done yet, but he doesn't think it's a case of plantar fasciitis, the injury that ruined Jason Giambi's year in 2007.

Even if it means a DL stint, hopefully it's not a lingering issue.

Jul 20 The Yankees declined Damon's request to return from the disabled list on Sunday, according to the New York Daily News.

Advice: Damon is eligible to come off the DL, but the Yankees are looking at resting him until Friday. The center fielder has been out since July 6 with a sprained left shoulder. Brett Gardner started in his place Sunday.

Looks like Damon is good to go tonight:

Johnny Damon (shoulder) will reportedly be in the lineup as the DH and leadoff man for the Yankees vs. the Twins on Monday night. The Yankees were going to hold off activating Damon until he can play the outfield, but with Hideki Matsui (knee) possibly heading to season-ending surgery and sore-shouldered Jorge Posada unable to catch and perhaps headed to the DL, Damon gets activated.
