Michael Stanton - OF - Marlins

Postby connmen » Tue Jun 24, 2008 1:54 pm

Haven't read much about this guy except that he was a 2nd rounder, has great power and is lighting it up right now in Single-A.

I know it's just Single-A but the guy is not even 19 years old yet.

Any projections on what the future may hold for Michael Stanton?

It's difficult to project someone when they're 19, but he is definitely someone to keep your eye on in the future.

His age plus the fact he's in single A make it difficult to project his future. He does show some nice pop at such an early age, but you've got to hope he really improves on the K rate. Almost 100 K's in half a season of A ball is worrisome.

28 jacks for an 18 yo in A ball is insane....but so is 125K in 376AB. I'm curious to see how the K rate looks as he moves up the ladder. I'll be keeping my eye on this kid.

Yup, as impressive as those power numbers are its just as discouraging to see those K totals. He's got quite a ways to go before we find out just how he's going to turn out. With that said I've got him as a top 3 prospect in the Marlins organization and has very nice upside if he can figure out his plate discipline/coverage.

Guys like Peter Gammons and Keith Law project this guy as the number one center field prospect next year.
Jay Bruce is mah franchize. I love you Chris Davis!
