Running or biking in cold weather you really have to layer and take layers off as you get hot.

I tried running once since my marathon and had to stop b/c of my foot. My friend had to go home to get his car to pick me up. I was off my feet for another two days and on crutches. I'm pretty sure that my foot is broken. So no more running for me for the rest of the year. But I am applying for the NYC marathon for next year.

mmmm...baklava :-L

That's what I was thinking when I read this too! Mmmm :-]

I hate bike riding, it's for pansies, especially stationary bike and most especially spinning classes. Instead of running I'm taking a yoga class and I'm playing hockey twice a week this winter. Think that I'll start swimming for cardio. Winter sucks.

I love biking and don't do it enough. I especially enjoy trail riding and we're lucky enough to have 6 miles of wooded trails pretty close to home here.

Yeah I loled at that too. :-b

I was gonna ask if you have access to a pool as well but I spaced it. Swimming is great for keeping your cardio up, plus it's fun. ;-D

I really don't like swimming, but I'm really happy that my boy loves it and is great at it. It is exceptionally good for your body and obviously a very nice skill to have.

Loving the Pythagorean jokes.

I ran a 1:47:45 half marathon this summer on little training and not surprisingly got the dreaded shin splints. I have been so incredibly lazy since then (moved halfway across the US before moving to the opposite side of the world - taiwan) that the shin splints are gone but now I'm so tight from not working out that I am not going to start running again until I've fixed my general fitness level. I'll be starting with cycling and stretching but swimming and yoga would be great if I can find somewhere good/cheap.

time to stop being lazy.

Not to toot my own horn but first race of the year was on Sunday and I did a 1:47 half. NY Marathon on the schedule for this year.

I haven't run more than a mile in about five years, but I'm training for a 10K. I have until August, so shouldn't be a problem getting in shape for it, but the run takes place at almost 8,000 ft., so that will make it more challenging.

yes, but I still haven't gotten into a regular running schedule and it's starting to get very hot and humid. But I get about 60 mins of biking in a day (commuting) and the races here don't start until october/november.
