I've gone back to biking for the most part instead of running, but I'm sure this question is relevant to runners as well: what should I use to protect my throat when I'm out biking/running? I'm putting a band together this fall/winter and I'm the vocalist, and I want to keep my voice strong.

Uh...don't bike with your mouth wide open?
Thanks.

Sorry.
I'm not a long distance runner or cyclist so I really don't know, is that a big problem?

Too keep it from getting dry or to keep your actual throat from getting cold? Couple things, wear a sweatshirt that you can zip up to cover your throat. Everyone should do this actually. And if you're worried about your throat getting dried out I would get yourself a camelback and just constantly hydrate yourself. Again, this should be practiced by everyone though.

I zipped up my jacket and bit on the top to cover my mouth. Probably looked ridiculous, but it worked fairly well. Good call.

I hate winter running but I have a balaclava that just covers the bottom part of my face and my throat that I can pull down if it steams up too much or I get too hot. It's actually called a neck-gator.
Running or biking in cold weather you really have to layer and take layers off as you get hot.
I tried running once since my marathon and had to stop b/c of my foot. My friend had to go home to get his car to pick me up. I was off my feet for another two days and on crutches. I'm pretty sure that my foot is broken. So no more running for me for the rest of the year. But I am applying for the NYC marathon for next year.

That sucks. Do you think you could ride a bike? I don't mean in the marathon, I mean to stay in shape. It's a little less impact and would keep your cardio up.
