Comic Legend George Carlin Dies

Postby Dr. Duran Duran » Mon Jun 23, 2008 1:34 am

I'm speechless. He was truly one of my all-time favorite entertainers.

I remember I caught hold of his things you can't say on TV when I was like 10 and hid in my room and listened to it. I will miss him, but the great thing about entertainers is they live forever in their work.
You have no frame of reference, Donny. You're like a child who walks into the middle of a movie...

This is pretty shocking news.
I wasn't a big fan of his, but still respect the fact that he was one of the pioneers of stand up comedy. He'll be missed.

Personally I didn't really find him funny at all, but he was entertaining in the listen to your grandfather rant kind of way.

Got quite a kick out of his comedy. He always overdid it on the language, but was still a funny guy.

RIP. :,-(

It's funny because he's best known for his Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television, but he was a strong advocate of free speech, and he really did have a greater amount of intelligence and wisdom than your average stand-up. He wasn't just up there spouting off "dirty" words for shock value, there was a message about freedom there as well, and while it was funny, it made you think, too.

How many comedians can you really say that about?
