I pick 12th in a snake draft so I get 2 picks. I need a 5th starter and a 3b for a points league.
Here's who's available, what do you think?
3B
Aramis Ramirez
Adrian Beltre
Joe Crede
SP
Mike Hampton
Orlando Hernandez
Graves
Or, as a wild pick, if Juan Gonzalez is available, should I pick him? It's round 15/16 of 25, and I already bit the bullet with Griffey, so I'm a little nervous taking Juan-gone, but he's awfully tempting....
if it was me, id go with crede and duke, although you could take aramis. the other 3 are too too risky to take this early, and so is crede really. maybe take another shot on juangon.....
Out of the players you listed, I like Aramis and Hampton. I expect Aramis to have a better year then last year, somewhere between 2001 and 2002. Hampton should be a decent 5th starter who can get 12 wins, 3.8-4.00 ERA and 1.35-1.38 WHIP.
I think Graves will have a good year, but he should be able to be had later.
In a points league I would go with Beltre and Hampton.Just my sense but this is Beltres year.Hampton will be the worst 15 win pitcher in the league but he is worth more than El Duque.
El Duque? are you nuts. He is not facing the Rays and Jays anymore. He is on the wrong side of a Strong Division. He doesn't have Posada, Soriano, Jeter and Bernie up the middle any more. He will win 8-9 with an era around 4.50. You should be able to Pickup 8-9 wins later in the draft. Grab Aramis and Jaun. I read somewhere recently that Jaun has decided to play this year. Is this a contract year for him? hmmm gotta go
I would either: a.) look for a different pitcher than the ones you've listed - they all are going to be question marks - of the 3, I like Graves the best - I think that Hampton is a big question mark or b.) if I must stick to this list, I'd go with Juan and probably Beltre as he has to wake up at some point. I personally like Crede better, but I think that the speed potential of Beltre makes just a hair better.
