DAVID PRICE

He's going to be called up in August right? I think he has a chance to be a much bigger impact than any other minor leaguer called up thus far. If I had the #1 Waiver I would risk holding out until the end.

With how well the Rays are doing this season, the organization might hold off until next year. He's only 22 and despite his ridiculous talent and raw skill set, he has a few kinks to work out in the minors. If the Rays are still in heavy contention, I don't think they'll make it a point to experiment much with unproven players.

I'm going to say he won't just based on him still being in High A going into July; The Rays could rush him through AA** in July and AAA in August to call him up to the majors in September - but that just seems silly. Especially when you consider how he's dominated High A in his 5GS (28.1ip) you have to figure he'd have been promoted to at least AA by now.

**(Yes, I'm aware that he doesn't HAVE to go to AA - but since the Rays started him in High A, I'm going to feel fairly confident in saying that he's going to hit AA for at least a few starts before going to AAA).

The Rays are 42-29. They lead in the wild CArd race by three games.

Watch them get the hunger f that lead disappears. Are they going to tell the team that they will call up their best pitcher in the system because they don't think he's ready? They most definitely will call up Price in a playoff race. If the Rays have a chance with 4 weeks to go you watch.

Their time is 2008. The staff is decent right now leaving no room for Price but injuries always happan, sadly.

I just hope he pitches some in the majors, but not enough (50IP) to lose his rookie tag for 2009. Our keeper league allows one rookie keeper, and he is my guy right now!! ;-D

For the 15th time... NO.

He wont be no matter what kind of contention.

And if he would be called up he would more than likely be in the Pen or be a fill in for EJax.

I believe that he will be up if the Rays are still contending for the playoffs late in the season. You can't tell me Price is probably not a better option than Sonnanstine. But even if hes not he does not belong in Advanced A still with the numbers he is putting up there.

Having him in the minors in my keeper league, I'd prefer to see him stay down in the minors and fully develop his pitches. If Tampa Bay is smart, they will not rush Price up to the majors. In my opinion, if they were going to call him up this year, it would be in a way that Yankees introduced in Chamberlain, which we all know the Rays won't do. It's either start or nothing. Have patience if you have him or waiting for him in a keeper league, he should be a very good one.

He def is. He has some of the best stuff, if not the best, in the organization. I think if he would not have missed the month and a half and tore up A and AA he would have been up toward the end of the season. I have maintained that he won't be up, but if he tears up AA and the Rays are in contention they may have to call him up.
