Ach! I completely forgot about 19th Century pitchers!

Andy 1234: Way to expand the rules without bursting the balloon that is their skin.

Remember that we want to use only one season of each player...not careers.

Tuned up my offense a bit: 1985 Runs, 616 HR, 230SB but avg. and ri's went down a bit. Thinking about McGwires season to replace Sisler but losing 42 SB hurts.
I love to hear the MOANS and GROANS of my competetors when I take their draft pick one round too early.

Dang. It's a cold day even in the cafe when the only all-star team that TY COBB gets on is submitted by GUEST.

Here is what I came up with:

Pos - Name ---- Year - Runs - HR - RBI - SB - AVG
C-Campanella - 1953 - 103 - 41 - 142 - 4 - .312
C- Piazza ------- 1997 - 104 - 40 - 124 - 5 - .362
1B - Gehrig -----1931 - 163 - 46 - 184 - 17 - .341
2B - Hornsby ---1922 - 141 - 42 - 152 - 17 - .401
SS - Rodriguez--2001 - 133 - 52 - 135 - 18 - .318
3B - Rosen -----1953 - 115 - 43 - 145 - 8 - .336
IF - Foxx--------1932 - 151 - 58 - 169 - 3 - .364
IF - Greenburg-1937 - 137 - 40 - 183 - 8 - .337
LF - Bonds------2001 - 129 - 73 - 137 - 13 - .328
CF - Griffey-----1997 - 125 - 56 - 147 - 15 - .304
RF - Ruth--------1921 - 177 - 59 - 171 - 17 - .378
OF - Wilson -----1930 - 146 - 56 - 191 - 3 - .356
OF - Duffy ------1884 - 160 - 18 - 145 - 48 - .440
UT - Hamilton---1894 - 192 - 4 - 87 - 98 - .404

Totals------------------1976 - 628 - 2101 - 274 - .356

I wasn't sure about CF or LF eligibility so I choose 2 I was sure player the positions. If I knew the old-timers Positions a little better they might not be in there. It was fun making this list though. If one of my guys did Quaify at Center Griffey would be out and I would add Sosa's 2001 season. That would change my totals to:

Runs---HR----RBI----SB----AVG
1997 - 636 - 2114 - 259 - .358

I did my Starters here are My RP:
I mentioned Eck's 1990 season already
Gagne in 2003: 2 Wins 137 K 1.20 ERA 0.69 WHIP 55 SV
Thigpen in 1990: 4 W 70 K 1.83 ERA 1.04 WHIP 57 SV
Hoffman in 1998: 4 W 86 K 1.48 ERA 0.85 WHIP 53 SV

So with the 5 starters from before and the 4 RP I have 9 Pitchers

Here are the stats: (I actually calculated the ERA and WHIP using true stats not averageing the yearly values like I did on the Starter totals before and the BA for the Players)

Wins: 262
ERA: 1.66
WHIP: 0.90
K: 2180
SV: 213

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. -Crash Davis

Cobb was on my team but had to bump him off for Hamilton, because I needed some Runs. He was the last one Bumped.

Cobb's 1911 season : .420 147 runs 8 HR 127 RBI 83 SB

If you think that they will be the best after all of them have super years in 2004, then I guess we can't say anything until after they don't put up Numbers in 2004.

Vladdy your starting to look more like yourself. I guess that Teixeria look is out - lol

Great thread.

Here's an interesting stat line to consider for your teams:

3B Arlie Latham, St. Louis Browns, 1887
198/627 (.316), 163 R, 2 HR, 83 RBI, 129 SB

I just started on this pursuit so I haven't decided how valuable he is, but those SB and R numbers gotta be hard to match.
