Valverde back to sucking, injured?

Postby harold_bush » Wed Jun 18, 2008 10:12 pm

Started the year he couldn't get an out. He then went through a month stretch where he was unhittable. THe last week is back to not being able to get anyone out, blowing 2 games the last 2 nights. I read something about a leg injury a week or two ago, so I can only assume that is it.

Well, the Astros have been sucking lately and during his month-long stretch of good pitching, Houston was giving him regular save opps. He's gotten one save chance the past two weeks, so I think that's contributed to his sharpness. Closers just arent good when asked to pitch in a tied game or when behind.
I think he'll be fine ... as long as Houston puts him in some save opps.

Or at least I hope since I have him.
