i would think that the 42 % would go up a little bit if you're giving me the option of picking which games i want and which games i dont like. you're taking that 42 % if i bet every game. if i bet every game i would think i'd lose more than i'd win, but if i pick the games i like, i would think i'd likely be a little over 50 %.

It's a winning percentage but far from a great winning percentage.

Run lines and parlay (multi) bets are sucker bets. The bookies love them.

Any winning percentage that provides better than a 0% return over a long period of time in gambling is a great winning percentage.

And that's where you're wrong. You are using the word 'great' far too loosely here. Sure, it's nice not to lose money, but barely scraping the surface of a profit is far from great for anyone who is gambling on a daily basis. Just because the vast majority of people who gamble lose in both the short and long term doesn't mean that if I make $1 it's great.

I'm curious about the online gambling sites. Can we discuss the legality and safety of using them?

right. if you're just scraping the barrel, you might as well invested the overall money you bet throughout the year, and invested it somehow, because you'll make far more money that way.

not as fun, i know.

About 1/10th of 1% of all gamblers will make money in the long run. They're all better off investing the money.

Ok, so I have a more specific question....

Today's line on the CSW/LAD game is even/ -120. So in general terms, when they have even money on the CSW (or today they are also showing even money on PHI and TB right now), it's a safe assumption that if that team wins....it's going to be a long shot, correct? I am getting better at reading the lines, but the "even" confuses me a bit.

no. even is supposed to 50/50 really. technically if both teams were even, it would be a crapshoot as to who would win....

now if you think the team should be a huge favorite and then they end up being even, and you think it looks fishy, only THEN would you say they are a long shot to win, but even really just means even.

Thanks. One other question (I'm sorry!), When both teams are like -110/-105....what do you make of that? That it's honestly just a crap shoot of who will win?
