How long until he signs with the Rays? I know some picks have been signed already from the draft, some will take a while. I'm curious whether anyone knows if the Rays want to sign him quick, meaning the next few weeks, or it may be longer than that. Thanks.

I am sure TB will try to sign him as soon as they can but I expect he will more than likely sign closer to the deadline and try to get as much money as possible.

Yeah thats what I was thinking too. My league only allows you to grab players from the draft after they've signed, which is why I'm watching and waiting for him to sign. And I know last year, David Price signed on Aug 15th, which if I'm not mistaken is the deadline. So probably more of the same this year.

I imagine Beckham signs August 15th. He more then likely signs for over slot, and 95% of the time those signings are announce on the deadline day.

I just added him to my minor league sytem today....(like another poster, I wasn't able to pick him up, until he signed)

Wondering what you guys think of his upside............and what other prospects I should look to target for my minor league club, from this draft.

(I dropped Homer Bailey for Beckham, and would possibly drop Wladimir Balentien, for someone like Alvarez?)

Wow. I am surprised he signed so quickly. Excellent, and thanks for the update.

I do recall reading his fielding is superb, so I'm really hoping he will come up as a SS and stick at that position, that he won't get moved around elsewhere a la Justin Upton, or Moustaskas was rumored to, but hasn't (yet?). Being in an AL only keeper league, that is pretty important to me, and is my main concern. I really need a SS for the future, which is why I was eyeing him.

I've read he has some tremendous capabilities with the bat, that is bat speed is terrific, so I'm thinking he will generate some great power at one point. But I honestly am not to keen on his overall batting skills, or how much work he may need to put in before you start to see him get close to the pros.

Personally I'd rather have Alvarez than Beckham right now for fantasy purpose, but then again, I'm not a big proponent of waiting out the HS bats and Alvarez could help REAL soon.
