Ownership is absent for the most part. The problems definitely go higher than GM though, as the CEO and President have certainly been part of the problem. Bavasi getting the axe is a good first step but I won't rest easy until I see who they hire to replace him.

You'd hope they are opening up CF to either retry or pump up Jeremy Reed's trade value (some teams still quite like him).
I wonder if it comes down to it, and no-one will bite on Johjima whether they have the nads to just cut him.
I would like to cite the precedent of Russ Ortiz + Diamondbacks for someone cutting that sort of money.
I may have said this before, but that move is one of my favourite GM moves of all time.
