Glorious news. Hopefully they hire a smart guy with some vision (Chris Antonetti!) as opposed to some retread "baseball man" (Cam Bonifay!). With the money coming off the books in the next couple years and the money they've got, a smart GM could turn it around in a hurry. Hopefully Cairo, Sexson, and Vidro get DFA'd today, Bedard and Beltre (if he doesn't have interest in re-signing) are on the block ASAP, and maybe someone gets desperate and/or stupid enough to take Batista and Washburn off our hands. That all may be too much to ask though.

Congrats, but as an A's fan I'm kind of disappointed.

Clement is probably the happiest guy in the world right now. He had to of been thinking "What did I do wrong?" when he was demoted and slugging better than everybody else on the team at the time.

There are some GMs about who are wizards at moving bad money. I'm sure someone will be able to do something with those contracts, even if 5 other teams pay for them.
